Suggest a Website to the Picky Directory (FREE)
We automatically delete any submissions that don’t meet the below requirements or that otherwise attempt to suggest inaccurate “keywords” as the name/title of their website. Please don’t waste our time, or yours. Thank you!
To ensure a high quality collection of websites in the Picky Directory, we have created a list of basic standards that we look for in regard to website submissions. These are not set in stone, but tend to guide our editorial decisions:
- Minimum Google PageRank: 2
- Minimum Alexa traffic rank: 2,000,000
- Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Contact pages are linked from homepage
- Website must clearly define its subject matter, layout, and purpose
Additionally, there are many types of websites which we inherently will not approve to be listed in our directory, as we don’t feel they are valuable resources for common Internet users. These are some such websites:
- Websites whose primary language is not English (at this time)
- Websites that reside on a sub-domain or subdirectory, or “free host”
- Websites that do not have a recently “cached” homepage on Google
- Websites that have taken over “dropped domains” in a “spammy” manner
- Websites that our staff suspects are blatantly selling “text link ads”
- Websites that merely mirror content from other sources (i.e. Wikipedia clones)
- Websites that are “under construction” or otherwise do not appear complete
- Websites that possess non-working links or pages, or that fail to fully load
- Websites with “splash” pages, intro pages, or heavy Flash-based content
- Websites that consist largely of affiliate promotions, ads, or sales pitches
- Websites that consist of keyword-stuffed content made just for robots
- Websites that employ pop-ups or attempt to stop users from leaving
- Websites that encourage illegal/inhumane activities (i.e. crime, racism)
- Websites that contain pornography or adult material (at this time)
- Websites that are related in any way to online casinos or gambling
- Websites that solely promote “work at home” or “get rich quick” products
- Websites that solely promote “herbal remedies” or “online pharmacy” products
Moreover, please note that we reserve the right to remove websites from our directory after a domain’s status becomes “unregistered” or that is otherwise issuing 404 errors, etc. for an extended period of time.
